Lifeline of Barnes County allows individuals to maintain their independence by utilizing an in-home care monitoring system. This unit provides security to individuals and families by alerting a response center when an individual needs advanced home care and emergency assistance. As a Lifeline subscriber, you will wear a personal help button around your neck, wrist, or clipped to your clothing. If you need help anytime during the day or night, you just press the help button and this activates your home unit. The home unit which can be installed with the use of your traditional land line or a wireless version sends a message to the Emergency Response Center. which is located at SMP Health – St. Raphael.

When the signal for help is received, a healthcare professional will attempt to call you to see what help is needed. If they are unable to reach you, they will call one of your Responders to go to your home and check on you. A Responder is a friend, neighbor or relative that has been chosen by you and has access to your home. Each subscriber chooses three or four Responders that can be called in an emergency.

When the Responder arrives at your home, he or she will press the Reset button on your Lifeline unit to signal the Emergency Response Center that help has arrived. They will then asses call to see what help is needed and call an ambulance if necessary.

Each unit has a timer, so if you become unconscious or otherwise unable to reset the timer, Lifeline automatically calls and starts the emergency response procedure for you.

Lifeline allows you to be independent and yet give your family the security of knowing that you can get help so easily, if needed.
